J had a "milestone" birthday over the weekend...the Big 4-0! We talked about what he wanted to do and he said, in all honesty, he just wanted to keep it simple and celebrate with those he loved. Afterall, 40 is just the number that comes after 39, and he's pretty cool with being one year older, so no reason to fuss ;)
No big SURPRISE!!!!! No fancy party. Just ice-cream cake, the water and his peeps. Those were his only requirements. Low-key and relaxed...just like him.
We had a date night on Saturday and then Sunday we went out to visit his folks. Grilled eats and treats, a train ride and LOTS of beach time.
Happy 40th birthday My Love!! I'm looking forward to spending 40+ more with you (even though I can't even fathom being 80!!).

Happy Birthday!
So someone went and turned 38 today. Since it was a work day, things were kinda low-key. But that's o.k. We still tried to make it special for him.
I think that thing that made it the most special was the fact that the Noodle was suuuper excited about it. She kept say things like: "I can't wait until Daddy's birthday tomorrow!" or "When we wake up, it will be Daddy's birthday." or "Let's sing Happy Birthday to Daddy when he gets home from the gym." or even "When is Daddy coming home? I want to celebrate his birthday!". Ha ha!!
When he finally did get home from work, she bolted to the window and screamed out "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" and then pounced on him with a big hug as he walked in the door. She was soo excited for him to open her gift to him--a picture that she had drawn of a 'bonga car' (read: VW), which she had wrapped herself.
So, I'm just giving a big shout-out birthday wish to the best guy I know--the one who makes me laugh, settles me down, brightens our day, loves us no matter what, and is a wonderful role model! We love you!!!!!!!!!!!

Birthday Date Night
Lollie and Papa babysat the other night so we could go out for an "adult" dinner to celebrate J's birthday. The restaurant where we went has a gorgeous view of Downtown and sits right high up on a cliff, overlooking the Lake. Breathtaking and soo romantic. Good food, good wine, great conversation and a chance to exhale and enjoy just being together.
The waitress obviously could sense that this was a special occasion because this was what our dessert looked like when she brought it out. Yum!
White chocolate Godiva cheesecake. T.D.F. (to die for)!

This and that plus a birthday!
First and foremost--Happy birthday to my fabulous hubbie! We opened presents this morning and had his ice-cream cake for dinner (always his request). Thankfully it didn't melt from the DQ to the car and from the car into the house. I'm sure my Nana would cringe at the sight of the cake still in the box, but when it is hot and you're short on time...we'll you get the drift!
Speaking of our house, it is all it can do to keep up and keep the temperature (somewhat) cool. It is a heat wave people--ack!
While we were down visiting Uncle and Aunt C, we also got a phone call from our local library informing us that the Noodle had won a drawing through the summer reading program. Yeah for her!
When we went for story-time this morning, she was able to redeem her prize--an Eric Carle boardgame. Looks like it will be a fun one to play.
Even though she's looking all serious in the first pic, she was really quite jazzed...just my little shy peanut! Sorry for the horrid lighting--what is it with the library and lighting?!

J's birthday!!
Anyone care for a dip?
"Play that funky music white boy..."
His favorite place--down by the water.
In case you can't read the card, it is for St*rbucks...where he loves to feed his caffine addiction (ha ha).
Happy birthday to my wonderful husband! He always puts a smile on my face and warms my heart. I'm blessed to be married to my best friend. Love you!!
