Long Weekend ReCap

We had a great couple of days hanging out with family and enjoying the sun, warmth and water...all the best that summer has to offer!

First off, boating with Grandma and Grandpa--
Then it was time to head up to the summer cottage with Lollie and Papa.  The little getaway where they have their cottage is a complete throwback to the good-ole-days.  One day we went to an ice-cream social where the band was playing and took a horse and carriage ride.  Love it!  Bikes and golf carts rule the roads here and everyone waves and is so friendly.  No one locks their doors (shouldn't post that, I suppose) and children run around and roam free until twilight beckons them home.

Do you think she liked her brown "GodSquad" t-shirt that Papa bought for her?  She wore it the entire time she was there!  Ha ha :)  Did I also mention that ice-cream is considered a staple here?  Yum!

Girls Get-Away

As much as J loathes the term "stay-cation" that is exactly what Lollie, the Noodle and I did...went for a quick trip up to Lollie and Papa's summer place.  We were only gone 2 days (1 night), but the Noodle thought it was so fun that it was "girls only".
The great thing about their little get-away spot is that it really feels like a throwback in time.  Everything moves slower and easier.  We did a lot of strolling, biking, gazing, reading, laughing and eating.  Ice-cream one time/day...okay!
When we got home, it was time for the Noodle and J to have their weekly date to the vegetable man (cue song Que Onda Guero by Beck).  The pickings were slim tonight...unfortunately one of the downsides of signing on with a CSA.  You're in it for the long haul, whether the harvest is a bounty or a bust.  Here's hoping more ripens for next week!
Yes, it may look like an empty bag, but there was produce in there...promise!  The stash this week included:  mint, garlic scapes, 1 head of garlic, green onions, red lettuce, and red popcorn kernels.

Lazy Days

With Uncle and Aunt C visiting, we went up to Lolly and Papa's cottage, Lazy Days, for some good ol' fashion family time.  Everything moves at a slower pace there.  Mornings start later (thankfully the Noodle slept in a bit--like 7 a.m.), there's longer to linger over the paper and coffee and schedules and agendas take a back seat.  There is always the next "masterpiece" to be created in the sand, walk to be taken by the Lake, snooze to be had during the mid-afternoon hours (both for kiddos and adults alike), farmer's market to visit, or glass of wine to be savored.  Dusk creeps up and all of a sudden, another day is over.  It was so nice and relaxing and a special treat to spend some good quality time with Uncle and Aunt C!  The Noodle was in her glory.  When ever she asked "Want to play with me?", someone was always ready and willing to say "Yes!".

Thanks again Lolly and Papa for a wonderful time!  We can't wait to do it again!

Mini-break with Lollie and Papa

The Chinese Noodle and I spent a few days up with Lollie and Papa at their summer cottage. J came up later, as did my Aunt and Nana. The time was busy spent going to the summer symphony (the Noodle sat mezmerized through the entire first half, tapping her hands every so often), playing on the playground, going to the farmer's market, walking around, eating ice cream, swimming in the Lake, sitting on the dock, laughing and catching up. Exactly the things you love to do with family.

Sunday, Lollie offically became a member of the Catholic church where she teaches. While it was hot, hot, hot, she had so many friends, collegues and of course family there to support her, it was well worth it.

One of my favorite past-times.

Do they still use these things?

Brrrr it is cold on my feet!

Lazy Days

This past weekend J, Lollie, the C.N. and I went to help open up "Lazy Days", Lollie and Papa's summer cottage. Papa wasn't able to go with us because he was on his way home from China (unfortuantely delayed 3 hours--ugh!). This year, we just needed to do a little spring cleaning and light painting. The feather duster was quite the hit. Anyone need their house cleaned?
