Goodbye 2nd grade, hello summer!

It is official.  Summer vacation has begun!  Whoot whoot!!
Even though the Noodle woke up this morning at 5:30 a.m. due to excitement, I know the end of this year has been bittersweet for her.  She has loved both her 1st and 2nd grade teachers and since she's moving to a 3/4 grade school, she won't be seeing them.  When J got her off the bus this afternoon she was pretty quiet and when asked about it, she admitted that she was sad to see the year end.
I know she's looking forward to 3rd grade and her new teacher and school but saying goodbye is always hard.
We had planned to go get ice cream when she got home, so that helped to cheer her up.  By the time we were heading home she was fading fast.  They had had Olympic Day to celebrate the last day, so that, coupled with the early rising time, was really kicking her backside.  Somehow we managed to strong-arm convince her to take a short little cat nap since we had an event at church in the evening and we knew she'd be a puddle.
When she woke up she felt muuch better and we were all able to finish celebrating the end of the school year with pizza, the final Kids Stuff production our church puts on and another sweet treat.
Hello Summer!
