Gobble Gobble

This Thanksgiving we came, we saw, we ate!  It was good!!

We started off the holiday weekend by getting ice cream at a local fav.  It was delish--yum yum ;)

Then it was time to get our turkey on (at least most of us!).

After eating ourselves silly, J and I snuck out to walk on the beach.  it was cooold but nice to have a little mini-date.

On Sunday we helped man a booth at church to promote adoption and orphan awareness, since November is the "official" month to draw attention to it.  We are part of a small organization that helps support families who are going through the adoption process.

When you say "yes" to God and get out of his way, amazing things happen!

Stuffed...Thanksgiving re-cap

Well.  We got our turkey on (most of us, anyway) and gobbled until we literally wobbled!  Ugh--too.much.food!!

We started our Thanksgiving morning much the same as other Americans, I'm sure.  Pouring through the circulars.  Not because we hit the Black Friday sales but because neither of the girls had made their Christmas lists for Santa.  This was the perfect place to start.

Ah, the peace and quiet with a side of chaos, while J and I finished reading the paper.

Then it was time to head out to visit Grandma and Grandpa.  No holiday feast is complete with out the required hors d'oeuvres.  And a photo bomb.  In our family, it is the buffalo chicken wing dip--always, and I threw in a brie with cranberries and pistachios into the mix for an added choice.  Yum!

There were lots of silly antics with the cousins.

Superhero memory.  Lots of superhero memory.

And tons of snuggles, cuddles, kisses and hugs.  It is Thanksgiving, after all, and what better way to let those around you know how thankful you are for them, than by smothering them in love?!

The feast.  Delicious.  Nap-inducing (which quite a few us did partake in, I must admit).

After we finally dragged ourselves out of our chairs, we took a walk on the beach.  The wind was from the South, so there was lots of sand and it was crazy warm for this time of year.

This guy.  His favorite place is by the water.  Love him so much.  God knew what He was doing when He brought us together.

And just like that, it was time to head for home.  We had such a lovely Thanksgiving--family, love, laughter, food, shelter.  Such simple things but such BIG things too.  I don't ever want to take them for granted.

This is what followed us home.  Beautiful!!  Can you see how the Lake is just illuminated by the moon's light?  It was that bright.  Just another visible, tangible reminder that God is so good.

Thanksgiving re-cap

We had such a nice, relaxing Thanksgiving.  Of course we ate waaaay too much, but isn't that always the way it is? Sigh.  It is just that everything tastes sooo delicious :)

After we ate, we decided that perhaps we better attempt to burn off a few of those 1,000+ calories, so we went for a walk stroll along the beach.  It was brisk, but great for skipping stones and writing in the sand.  Hope your's was lovely!

As I reflect this Thanksgiving, I am once again humbled by how much the Father has blessed me.  Just because He can...not because I deserve it or am worthy of it.  True grace.  Awe-inspiring and so worthy of praise to Him.

Thanksgiving weekend

Hello!  We were enjoying the wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and taking a bit of a break from the blogging world.  Even though we stayed in town it was great just hanging out and relaxing.  We went out to eat, visited the art museum (it had been such a long time!), did some projects around the house and even hit some Black Fridays sales (but at a much saner time--9:30 a.m.). Both the Noodle and I  love long weekends when J is home and we get to all be together.  I have to admit, both of us were a little bummed when Monday morning rolled around and we stood at the door waving bye-bye to Daddy!  It just isn't the same without him!

 

A local restaurant has this lizard theme.  The Noodle was so excited to see "Twiggy" again!

 I was encouraging her to try some wing sauce (as well as the wings).  Do you think I succeeded?

Planning  her Black Friday shopping (or what Mama and Daddy will allow in order to read the paper in peace).

Poor J--he's been battling a head cold and bronchitis for more than 2 weeks and can't seem to get better.  He was a trooper though and didn't let it spoil his Thanksgiving!

 Enjoying some quiet time with Grandpa, after the excitement of the Thanksgiving day was over.

When we told the Noodle we were going to the art museum, she immediately said that we had to go to the Armour Court.  Once again, it didn't disappoint--gorgeous art in a gorgeous space.  Can you believe it?  We had the place almost to ourselves!!

The calendar says only a few more days until December, and we've got a busy month planned already!  3 birthdays to celebrate (and someone we knows turns 4!) plus all the fun and festivities that the Christmas season brings.  I'm planning on attempting doing the Advent chain again this year, just like last.  It was a big undertaking, but lots of fun!  Check back each day to see how we're celebrating and trying to make the most of this wonderful season.
